Viola J. Burnell

Viola J.  (Vickie) Burnell, 87, of Jersey Shore passed away July 10, 2024, at Manor Care, Jersey Shore.  She was born in Lock Haven, June 5, 1937 to LeRoy C. and Leona F. Seybold Swinehart.

Viola was a 1955 graduate of Lock Haven High School and worked in the Payroll Department at Piper Aircraft as a Payroll Clerk for 13 years and retired at the time Piper’s closing. She had a love and passion for the Philadelphia Phillies she loved rooting her team on as well as The Pittsburgh Steelers. She loved her family and spending time with them, especially the grandchildren.  She was one of the best at telling her grandchildren they can do anything they put their mind to.  She has a childhood friend Jeanne Pendrys from Florida that has been there for her through thick and thin. 

Survivors include two sons, Thomas James (Brenda) Eckenroth and LeRoy A. (Leslie) Burnell, a daughter, Gail A. Rine, a sister; Linda Leidhecker.

Grandchildren, Thomas Burnell, Natalie Burnell, Jodie Dutton, Jamie Eckenroth Penick, Stephanie Baker, Danielle McCloskey

In addition to her parents, Viola was preceded in death by her son in law, Mickey Rine , a brother; Daniel Swinehart and the love of her life Arden C. Douty who passed away in 1989. 

Services are under the direction of the Gedon Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, LLC, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
