Philip Anthony Taormina, Jr., 91, of Mill Hall, PA passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in the Gatehouse.

Philip was born in Bloomsburg, PA to Philip A. Taormina and Rose Catherine Taormina(Kurtz) on June 22, 1932. He went to high school at Bloomsburg High School and graduated in 1950. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the 7th Division, 17th Infantry, Regiment Easy Company. He went on to earn a business degree from Bloomsburg State College. He was a business education teacher at Bald Eagle Nittany High School for 33 years. He also worked part time at Central Counties Bank. After retiring from teaching, he established his own business, Balloons by Mr. T. He had 45 years of service and commitment to the Kiwanis. He was honored and received the Hixson Award, from the Kiwanis Club International. He was involved in Clinton County Herb Guild, West Branch Choral, Consistory Dance Band/vocalist, preformed on stage for the Off B.E.N. Avenue Follies, and acted in SPAM(Society for the Preservation of American Melodramas). Phil was a lifetime member of the Kiwanis International Club, participated in the Mill Hall Kiwanis Club, and was a charter member of the Kiwanis Club or Bald Eagle and Nittany Valleys. He was a lifetime member of the Son’s of Italy. He was a dedicated blood donor for many years to help others. Phil’s passion was serving his community, and he also enjoyed singing, dancing, painting, and gardening.

Philip is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. Taormina, of Mill Hall, PA., and his four children, Angela Johnson(Randy) of Bethel Park, PA., Philip Taormina(Lisa Bletz) of Lamar, PA., Karen Bingaman(Duane) of Kamas, UT., and Roseanne Pillion(Marty) of Mechanicsburg, PA. He has a brother, Augustine Taormina, and a sister, Antoinette Kanaskie. He has four grandchildren, Derek Pillion, Adam Taormina, Hunter Bingaman, and Logan Bingaman. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Christopher Pillion.

Funeral services will be held at Gedon Funeral Homes and Cremation Services LLC, 320 Main Street, Mill Hall, PA  on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Cindy Killinger officiating. A full military service will be conducted by the Jersey Shore Honor Guards at the funeral home. Family and friends will be received in the Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kiwanis Club of Bald Eagle and Nittany Valleys, P.O. Box 53, Mill Hall, PA 17751. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the services and caring personnel of the Family Hospice of the UPMC Home Healthcare of Central Pennsylvania.
