Paul McCune Obituary

Paul O. McCune, 98, of Wellsboro, Pa, (formerly of Mill Hall Pa.) passed away on January 22, 2026 at Broad Acres Nursing Home, Wellsboro.

Paul McCune was born in Gassaway, West Virginia, to the late Earl and Nora (Fowler) McCune on July 30, 1927. He went to Gassaway High School, and after graduating he enlisted in the Navy and trained as a medic. After a tour on the West Coast, he was sent to Hawaii where he finished his tour. On July 13, 1947, Paul married Wilda Christine Flanigan in Mill Hall, Pa. They were married until her death on May 30, 2013. He worked in Quality Control at Hammermill Paper Company in Lock Haven. After retirement from Hammermill, Paul and his wife enjoyed fishing and visiting Wellsboro.

Paul is survived by his daughters Lois C. Bellinger, Susan B. (Jerry )Bowen, both of Wellsboro, a grandson Cameron (Haleigh) Bowen, step grandson Quinn Allen, step grandson Merle (Kathy) Bellinger, and step granddaughter Sherry (Scott) Sheeler. Along with his wife he was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Earl McCune Jr. and Donald McCune, his sister Sonja Cooper, and sons in law Edward Bellinger and Jesse Isaac. He is also missed by his “grand dog” Liam. A special thank you to Max Wheeler for being a great friend to Paul.

A memorial graveside service will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery on June 3, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Susan Champion. Arrangements are under the direction of the Gedon Funeral Homes and Cremation Services LLC., 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven, PA  17745.
