Mary Almeda Eldred

Mary Almeda Eldred,89, of Lock Haven PA, passed away March 9, 2024 at the UPMC Williamsport Hospital.  She was born in  Beech Creek, PA, May 29, 1934 to the late George Albert and Dora Ella Welch Hevner.

Mary was united in marriage to George L. Eldred, December 24, 1954;  he preceded her in death, October 4, 2008.

She was of the Methodist faith and had been a graduate of the Lock Haven High School.  She had served many years as a waitress at the former Blue Chimney Restaurant in Mill Hall.  She was a social member of the Lock Haven American Legion, Lock Haven VFW, the Castanea Fire Company, the Sons of Italy, and the 40 & 8 Club.

Mary had been a homemaker and enjoyed yard sales and shopping together with her sisters when she was younger.

Survivors include a daughter, Lori (Dennis) Fisher of Lock Haven and two sons, Randy W (Pat) Eldred of Avis and Greg L. Eldred. Also surviving is one brother, Harold E. “Butch” Hevner of Lock Haven and a sister, Julia Ann Hinds of Avis, 5 grandchildren and 10 great grand grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry E. “Bud” Hevner and George A. Hevner Jr. She was also preceded in death by three sisters:  Betty Kitchen, Patricia Waterman and Larue “Toots” Eldred.

A private family visitation and services will be held at the convenience of the family.   Internment will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton County SPCA, 33 Mill Hill Road, Lock Haven, PA 17745.
