Lynda Carey Obituary

Lynda Anne Carey, 81, of Lock Haven, went home to be with her Lord on March 7, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born on October 5, 1942, in Kingston, PA, to William Henry Carey and Thelma Loretta Tripp Carey.

Lynda was a graduate of Westmoreland Senior High School and Benjamin Franklin University. She retired from the Department of Defense as a senior executive with over 30 years of Federal service.

Lynda loved to travel, antique, garden, volunteer in her community, and spend time with family and friends. She was a member of United Evangelical Lutheran Church. She also owned antique shops, including Lynda’s Upscale Resale in Lock Haven. She touched many lives with her warm and fun-loving personality and infectious laughter. She had a smile that lit up the room and people gravitated to her positive and witty outlook on life. To know Lynda was to love Lynda, and she was loved by many. Saying that she lived a full life is an understatement; she will be deeply missed.

Lynda is survived by her longtime companion, Curtin Candor, and his son John Candor; two sons James (Sandra) Sweitzer, Jr. and Ned Sinkavitch of northern VA; and her sister Joyce Holland of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving are grandchildren Hope Sipocz, Richard Edwards, Summer Polozola, Jennifer Rivera, Jasmine Sinkavitch, Melissa Cruz, Jacob Sweitzer, Lexy Sweitzer, and Shauna Sinkavitch; 13 great grandchildren; and her beloved dogs Chase and Milo whom she lovingly called “her boys.” She was preceded in death by her sister Romayne Conklin and her dear pet Maxwell Piper.

Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Clinton County S.P.C.A. or the United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lock Haven.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Gedon Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, LLC,121 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Online thoughts and memories can be made at www.GedonFuneralHomes.com and the Gedon Funeral Homes Facebook Page.
