Lewis Ardel Straub of Mill Hall, PA December 7, 1936 – June 8, 2023 Lewis death was unexpected, but at the age of 86 the Good Lord ushered him peacefully into the heavens with peace and dignity June 8, 2023.
Fondly known as ‘Brother’ by his older sisters he was Born to Lewis E and Verna Straub, December 7, 1936, in Mill Hall, Pa.
He was a man who had a talented and creative gift for building and a passionate love for the water. Like most of us in our early years we have dreams and goals and a hope that one day they will be fulfilled. Lew, our Dad, was no exception. During his high school years at Mill Hall High School he was very athletic. Captain of the wrestling team and stared on the football team. As a young man he joined the U.S. Navy and served as a Sea-Bee for 4-years majoring in Industrial Arts. During this time his love for sailing and building continued to grow. He built several boats, did some sailing on the deep blue sea, as well as many years of cruising on his Harley Davidson. He was a lifetime member of the Beech Creek American Legion and President of the Bellefonte Lions Club. Because of his dementia he was no longer able to participate in the things he loved, but he never stopped sharing his joy of them.
Lewis is survived by his three children, Lewis, Brenda, Julie and 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Lewis was predeceased by his his wife Yvonne Straub, his older sister’s Leatrice and Alberta. The family will host a private ‘Celebration of Life’ in July.
