Barry L. Snook, 78 of Howard (Snydertown) passed away at home on January 4th, 2026. He was born in Jersey Shore, Pa on March 14th, 1947 to Richard and Anna Mae (Slaterbeck) Snook.
He graduated from Sugar Valley High School in 1965, going on to Lock Haven University (Lock Haven State Teacher’s College) graduating in 1969. He loved hunting and fishing, doing brick work, tile work, carpentry and just about anything he could do with his hands. He loved going to Wyoming and had another trip planned for this September. He was an elementary physical education teacher for 34 years, 33 of those years at Penns Valley Elementary Schools. In his early teaching years, he also was a wrestling coach and a referee. He loved going to Grange Fair and early on was a “granger ranger.”
On August 9, 2000 he married the former Kathy (Gates) Snook who survives. Also surviving is a son, Kevin (Melissa) Snook of Carlisle Pa; two granddaughters, Kayla and Lindsay Snook who he adored and was so proud of them. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rick and Ronald Snook.
A Funeral will be held on Friday, January 9th, 2026, 11AM in the Gedon Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC 121 W. Main St. Lock Haven, Pa 17745 with Pastor Ken Geisewite officiating. Friends and family will be received in the funeral home one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barry’s name may be made to the Sugar Valley Historical Society, PO Box 62, Loganton, Pa 17747.
